TikTok will stop paying people for daily video views: What was the reason?
The popular social app TikTok stops paying users daily rewards of 38 cents for watching videos.
Here's What We Know
This new policy applies to a simplified version of the TikTok app known as TikTok Lite, which was recently launched in Europe. This version of the app included a rewards feature that paid users a small amount for each day they interacted with the platform.
????We suspect the #TikTokLite feature to be toxic & addictive, in particular for children.

Unless TikTok provides compelling proof of safety -which it has failed to do so far-we stand ready to trigger #DSA interim measures including the #suspension of the TikTokLite "reward programme" pic.twitter.com/71neLMrkYy
However, immediately after the launch of this programme in Europe, regulators launched an investigation into possible dependence on such rewards. According to the EU Digital Services Act, the European Commission expressed particular concern about the possible impact of this feature on young audiences. Payments in the EU have been temporarily suspended until the investigation is completed.
A TikTok spokesperson stressed that the reward feature was not available to users under the age of 18, but the European Commission's complaint points to the possibility that age verification mechanisms that allow children to register on the platform may not be strong enough.
