Samsung Galaxy Flip 6: rumours of an outdated processor turned out to be false
In light of recent rumours that the new Samsung Galaxy Flip 6 will be powered by an outdated Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, our colleagues at SamMobile decided to do their own investigation. It turned out that the information about the old processor was based on a fake test result in Geekbench.
Here's What We Know
According to SamMobile, the device used to fake the test results was a Galaxy S23 Ultra model released in Japan. This model has the unusual model number SCG20, which may have helped hide its true identity.
Additionally, SamMobile has confirmed that an earlier Geekbench result indicating that the Galaxy Flip 6 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is authentic. Thus, a Flip 6 model with an outdated Snapdragon processor never existed. It's not a test model, a Fan Edition variant, or a downgrade.
Galaxy Flip fans may not worry: the upcoming model will not be weaker than its predecessors. Samsung is expected to unveil the next-generation Galaxy Flip 6 at an Unpacked event this summer. As we previously reported, the event is set to take place on 10 July.
