NVIDIA to buy Israeli startup Run:ai for $700m
NVIDIA
NVIDIA has announced the acquisition of Israeli startup Run:ai, which develops software for optimising artificial intelligence applications and workloads on GPUs.
Here's What We Know
According to sources, the deal will be valued at around $700 million, although earlier it was reported to be worth $1 billion. This is a continuation of NVIDIA's strategy to expand its presence in the AI ecosystem.
The Kubernetes-based Run:ai solution helps enterprises efficiently manage their computing infrastructure for AI tasks both in the cloud and on-premises. The centralised interface allows GPU power to be distributed across different workloads.
According to senior executives, this approach enables better utilisation of GPU cluster resources, improves infrastructure management and increases flexibility.
Run:ai capabilities will be integrated into NVIDIA DGX and DGX Cloud products. Customers will retain the same business model of service.
Run:ai was founded in 2018 and has been working with NVIDIA for several years. Its customers include Sony, Adobe, BNY Mellon, and other companies.
Prior to the acquisition, the startup had raised more than $105 million in investment.
