Threads introduces "hidden words" feature

The popular Threads app owned by Instagram is introducing a new "hidden words" feature that gives users more control over their social media experience.

This update allows account holders to filter words, phrases and even emojis from their feeds and have them automatically ignored in all replies, search results and profiles.

Previously, the Hidden Words feature only allowed users to filter out "unwanted content" in replies to threads. However, with these changes, users can now control even more, ensuring a positive and safe online environment.

Instagram's chairman has announced future updates to the app, including control over who can quote replies to Threads posts and the ability to ignore post notifications.
