Security problems are solved: Eken Group releases update for door cameras
Following an investigation by Consumer Reports into the security of door cameras, Eken Group addressed the issues by releasing a firmware update.
Here's What We Know
The cameras are sold under a variety of brands, including Eken, Tuck, Fishbot, Rakeblue, Andoe, Gemee, and Luckwolf.
In Consumer Reports testing, it was found that unencrypted cameras can reveal sensitive information such as home IP addresses and Wi-Fi networks and allow third-party access to images. However, a new firmware update (version 2.4.1 or later) addresses these issues.
Eken Group devices should now display the update.
The doorbell cameras sold on e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, Walmart, and Temu have been removed from sale.
In addition, the company plans to add proper labelling to new products in accordance with FCC requirements.
Following successful testing of the update, Consumer Reports removed the warning labels from its rankings.
