The first Android phone from Samsung was introduced 15 years ago
It's 15 years since the release of Samsung's first Android smartphone, the i7500 Galaxy.
Here's What We Know
Introduced in April 2009 and released in June of the same year, the i7500 Galaxy ushered in a new era for the company and was the first step towards Samsung's recognition as a giant in the global smartphone market.
This first Android smartphone from Samsung stood out from other devices of its time thanks to its OLED screen and more powerful battery. It's hard to imagine now, but in 2009, these were innovative features. In addition, the i7500 Galaxy used a Qualcomm processor and ran a standard version of Android, which opened up a lot of possibilities for users.
Equipped with a 3.2-inch HVGA OLED screen, a Qualcomm processor, 128MB of RAM, and 8GB of internal storage, this smartphone was the king of its time. It also had a 5-megapixel rear camera and came pre-installed with Android 1.5.
A year after the release of the i7500 Galaxy, Samsung hit the global market with the legendary Galaxy S. This device with its Super AMOLED screen, powerful processor and many other innovative features set new standards in mobile technology.
As we celebrate the 15th anniversary of the i7500 Galaxy, we can't help but note how Samsung has set the direction for smartphone development and has chosen to remain at the forefront of technology over the years.
And although the devices of the older Samsung Galaxy lineup amaze us every year with new features and capabilities, we remember that they all started with a small but important step - the i7500 Galaxy.
