Google Phone introduces "Audio Emoji"
Google Phone is introducing new "Audio Emoji" that add fun sound effects to your phone call.
Here's What We Know
This new feature adds an element of fun to the usual phone call experience, presented through six different audio effects paired with emojis. These include:
- Applause (clapping)
- Laugh
- Party
- Crying (trombone)
- Sting (Ba Dum Tss)
During a conversation, you can select one of these audio emojis to play the appropriate sound and animation for you and the person you're talking to. This Google Phone app option is aimed at adding more emotional expression to normal conversations.
Google explains that it's a way to express emotions and moods through sounds that you can choose during a conversation. The only limitation is a short time interval between the use of audio emojis.
The Audio Emoji feature is currently available via an update to version 128 in the Google Phone beta channel. It is likely to be available to all users in the coming weeks.
