One UI 6.1 update for Galaxy S22 may have been paused due to issues with unlocking devices after installing the new software

Samsung this week started rolling out the One UI 6.1 update for its flagship smartphones released in 2021 and 2022, including the Galaxy S22 series. However, reports have surfaced that Samsung may have halted the release of the update due to bugs that some users have encountered after updating their Galaxy S22, S22+ or S22 Ultra.

Here's What We Know

It has been reported that some Galaxy S22 devices may not boot or unlock after installing the update. However, users on Samsung's community forums in Korea, where the One UI 6.1 update for the Galaxy S22 has been released so far, have not encountered any such issues. Samsung has not officially confirmed the suspension of the update or acknowledged any issues, so it is not fully confirmed that the update has been suspended.

Owners of the Galaxy S22 lineup who have not yet updated to One UI 6.1 may want to wait for more information before proceeding with the installation. Owners of the Galaxy S21, Fold 4, Flip 4, Fold 3, and Flip 3 may also benefit from staying on One UI 6.0 for now, as boot or unlock issues are not uncommon with major software updates, and the fix often involves resetting the device to factory settings.

Since the One UI 6.1 update for Galaxy devices before 2023 has yet to be released outside of Korea, Samsung should fix the situation at this point before it gets out of hand. However, this could mean that the release of the update will be delayed by a few days or even weeks.
