OpenAI may unveil an alternative to Google Search on 9 May

There's a big event coming up in the world of artificial intelligence. According to rumours, OpenAI is planning to unveil a new web search product on May 9. The ChatGPT-based web search could become a direct competitor to Google's dominance in information retrieval.

Here's What We Know

There is information on the Internet that OpenAI may announce its search engine soon, namely on the 9th of May. This became known from two sources at once - Reddit and X(Twitter). It is reported that the domain name search.chatgpt.com was recently discovered, which confirms these rumours. When you click on the link, a "Not found" message appears instead of a 404 error, which adds more intrigue to this news.

The new search engine will likely focus on providing AI-generated quick answers, similar to Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) feature. Details are still unknown, but OpenAI's strategic move to launch its own search engine looks like a logical one. Microsoft, a major investor in OpenAI, has so far failed to seriously challenge Google through its Bing search engine.

A few months ago, it was reported that OpenAI was developing a search product based in part on Bing. These recent developments may indicate that this product is ready to launch. We'll have to wait to see what OpenAI reveals on the aforementioned day - 9 May.
