There will be no sequel to The Evil Within and Pray: Microsoft is shutting down Tango Gameworks, Arkane Austin and two other studios
Microsoft has announced the closure of a number of well-known studios, which includes Bethesda and ZeniMax.
Here's What We Know
First, the information came from an internal Microsoft letter, in which the head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty said that it was necessary to close some of the divisions of Bethesda.
In particular, we are talking about:
- Tango Gameworks - creators of Hi-Fi Rush, The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo;
- Arkane Austin - creators of the failed shooter Redfall;
- Alpha Dog Studios, developers of the mobile game Mighty Doom, which will cease support on 7 August.
Roundhouse Games will become part of ZeniMax Online Studios, and its staff will join The Elder Scrolls Online.
Matt Booty expressed regret that some employees will be out of work, but emphasised that the company has no other choice and expressed hope that the closure of the studios will have a positive impact on the financial performance of ZeniMax, Bethesda and the entire Xbox brand.
Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin Studios later released statements to the public in which they confirmed the sad news. Redfall support will be discontinued, the money for Hero Pass is promised to be returned, and the shooter's servers will remain up and running. And Japanese developers from Tango Gameworks modestly thanked gamers for the interest to their projects.
It is impossible not to note that Who are these people? Two people - that's how many players log into Redfall and Gollum on Steam few people will be surprised by the closure of Arkane Austin, but the liquidation of Tango Gameworks raises a lot of questions, because the games of this studio, although not sold tens of millions of copies, but consistently received high marks and definitely had their audience.
