Bloomberg: chief hardware engineer John Ternus could replace Tim Cook as Apple CEO in the future
Despite the fact that Tim Cook does not plan to leave the post of CEO of Apple, the company is already actively looking for his successor.
Here's What We Know
Information shared by insider and journalist Bloomberg Mark Gurman. One of the main contenders for the role of CEO in the company are considered John Ternus, who is now the chief hardware engineer at Apple. Gurman believes that Ternus could be in his new position in as little as three years. He is increasingly appearing at Apple presentations, as well as appearing on television on behalf of the company. By the way, it is said that it was Ternus who persuaded Tim Cook to create branded M-series processors and abandon Intel chips.
John Ternus joined Apple in 2001 and first worked on external monitors for Mac. In the heyday of Steven Jobs, he was too young to have direct contact with the co-founder. Over the course of two decades, he gradually took over the entire iPad, Mac and AirPods line, and in 2020, the iPhone. A year later, he was appointed to the top post in Apple's hardware division. Ternus also recently took charge of the Apple Watch hardware development team.
