Leaked: Nintendo Switch 2 technical details revealed - the console will be comparable in power to the PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S
Nintendo has maintained an emphatic silence about the new gaming console, which is likely to be called Nintendo Switch 2.
It is only known that the Nintendo has officially confirmed the existence of a new console for the first time. Switch 2 will be unveiled as early as this fiscal year before 31 March 2025. However, thanks to the leak, detailed technical specifications of the console became known.
Here's What We Know
TheFamiboards forum published quite detailed technical data of the Switch 2. At the moment it is impossible to confirm or deny the information, but it is claimed that in portable mode the power of the console from Nintendo will be comparable to the basic version of the PS4, and when placed in a docking station, the performance of the device will reach the level of PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S.
According to the leak, the Nintendo Switch 2 has the following specs:
- 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM;
- 256GB of inbuilt UFS 3.1 storage;
- NVIDIA's Ampere architecture chip with 1,536 CUDA cores, 48 tensor cores, 12 RT cores;
- ARM A78C is used as the central processing unit.
Notably, the Switch 2's RAM is inferior to the PS5 and Xbox Series S and X in terms of speed, but has more capacity than the Xbox Series S. For gaming, 10.5-11GB of RAM should be available, taking into account the allocation of 1GB to power the Switch OS.
The published information suggests that as a handheld console, the Nintendo Switch 2 has plenty of performance, and with proper optimisation, it should be able to run modern PC and console games without a serious loss in graphics quality and frame rate.
