A free updated version of the classic shooter Marathon (1994) has been released on Steam
Bungie, the studio best known for Destiny and Halo, is currently Bungie announces Marathon, a new sci-fi PvP shooter at PlayStation Showcase, which will be a reimagining of the game of the same name that came out 30 years ago.
It must be recognised that most of those who will be playing the new Marathon weren't even born when the franchise began. Especially for them, enthusiasts from the Aleph One Developers team released the first part of the sci-fi series on Steam.
Here's What We Know
On its X page, Bungie posted a thank you to the Aleph One team for making the 1994 game compatible with modern systems and available on Steam for free.
Today, we're thrilled to announce that the Aleph One community is bringing the original 1994-1996 Marathon Trilogy to Steam starting with Marathon 1.

The developers refused to make any drastic changes to Classic Marathon in order to keep the shooter in its original form. The following innovations appeared in the game:
- support for widescreen resolutions;
- 3D-filtering;
- positional sound;
- 60 fps interpolation and more.
The game also adds multiplayer matchmaking and controller support.
Aleph One has translated Marathon 1 to its own engine, making it possible to add the game to Steam.
Bungie has confirmed that the Aleph One team will soon release two more updated games in the trilogy: Classic Marathon 2 and Classic Marathon Infinity.
