Germany will transfer an additional battery of IRIS-T SAMs to Ukraine this month

Germany continues to help strengthen Ukraine's air defence system and is now preparing another battery of IRIS-T SAMs for shipment.

This was announced by the German ambassador Martin Jäger on the air of the telethon. Ukraine will receive the new system this month. By the way, now the AFU has three batteries of IRIS-T SLM SAM batteries.

Jäger also recalled that Germany is going to transfer new air defence systems to Ukraine until 2026. In addition, the AFU will soon receive an additional battery of Patriot SAMs.

Flashback

IRIS-T is a medium-range surface-to-air missile system. It was developed by the German company Diehl Defence in 2014. The complex is designed to destroy aircraft, helicopters, drones, cruise and ballistic missiles.

IRIS-T in the SLM modification is considered one of the most advanced air defence systems. The Ukrainian army has been using the SAM since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia. The system has proven itself in combat conditions.
