Estonia is considering sending its troops to the rear of Ukraine to reduce the burden on the Armed Forces

Estonia may send its troops to western Ukraine to provide logistical support and allow the Ukrainian armed forces to focus on the "hot" regions.

Here's What We Know

According to the information provided by Madis Roll, National Security Advisor to the President of Estonia, the Estonian military is seriously considering such a step. The use of military personnel for logistical support will allow the Armed Forces of Ukraine to free up reserves for more active participation in military operations at the front.

Discussions on this issue are still ongoing, and all possible options are being analysed. It is important to consider all the risks and benefits before making a decision. Roll also stressed that it is "possible" that NATO countries opposed to such a step will change their minds "in time".

The Estonian presidential adviser's statement comes as the head of the Estonian Defence Forces, General Martin Gerem, told Breaking Defence earlier last week that there had been discussions about sending troops to western Ukraine several months ago.

The discussion was about medical care, logistics or air defence.
