Analysts underestimated PlayStation Portal: demand for the console in the US has been exceeding supply for several months

The reaction of the gaming community to the introduction of PlayStation Portal was controversial. One could often see discussions about why Sony made a portable console that only supports streaming and requires a constant Internet connection. However, sales show that the console is in great demand.

Here's What We Know

Circana analyst Mat Piscatella said that the demand for PlayStation Portal in the US has been exceeding the supply for several months. Mat did not give exact figures, but said that Circana underestimated the Portal, and although the sales figures are not the largest, they are still good, especially given the demand.

Sony never expected PlayStation Portal to make a profit: the device is meant to satisfy a certain group of players. Nevertheless, the console has clearly exceeded the expectations of both the company and analysts.
