A new security update for May 2024 is available for the Galaxy S23 series in the US.
Samsung is now actively rolling out its big One UI 6.1 update for its mobile devices. But apart from that, the company is not forgetting to improve the security of the smartphones that are already running on the new One UI 6.1 firmware. The company recently updated its current Galaxy S24 lineup to the latest security patch, and now the May security patch is available for the Galaxy S23 lineup as well.
Here's What We Know
At the moment, the update for the Galaxy S23 series is available in the US on select carrier devices, but the update is expected to become available for unlocked devices in this lineup as well, and is expected to roll out to other regions as well.
The new firmware, which ends with the characters CXD7, most likely brings only security improvements. While there are reports that some of the updated flagship devices such as the Galaxy Fold 5 are prone to increased battery drain after updating to One UI 6.1, the Galaxy S23 series is likely to be less affected by this issue.
You can check for the new firmware via the Settings menu, then Software Update and Download and Install.
