TikTok has launched the ability to upload long videos of up to 60 minutes in test mode. So far, the feature is being tested on a limited number of users and it is not known when it will become available to everyone, if at all.
Currently, TikTok has a dominant position in the short video niche, but the company is actively looking for niches in which to grow, and Google's largest video platform is a tasty morsel. Spotify has recently taken a similar step.
In addition, many companies post the first episodes of their TV shows for free on Youtube to promote and attract an audience. TikTok also made such attempts, but then they had to split the episode into 10-minute fragments. Increasing the limit may well attract this audience.
