Apple and OpenAI are preparing a big announcement at WWDC: AI development on iPhone and new opportunities for users
On 10 June, Apple and OpenAI are expected to make a big announcement at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). According to Bloomberg, this announcement will concern a partnership between the companies that could bring significant changes to the iPhone functionality.
Here's What We Know
Apple will focus on the development of artificial intelligence functions on the device. It is planned that AI will be processed on the device itself and provided via the cloud.
As part of this partnership, OpenAI is expected to be implemented in the iPhone. Negotiations between the companies are already at the final stage.
It is also mentioned that iOS 18 may include the ability to summarise messages in iMessages using artificial intelligence. This will allow to automatically summarise the text of messages to make them more structured and informative.
Apple has also reportedly been in talks with Google to include Gemini in the iPhone, but these talks do not appear to have led to a deal. This may indicate that Apple plans to focus on developing its own AI and artificial intelligence technologies, using the partnership with OpenAI as a key element in this direction.
