The five different voices available in ChatGPT were chosen over a five-month period, with over 400 voice actor applications.

OpenAI claims to have collaborated with industry professionals, including casting directors and talent agencies, to ensure the selection of voices are diverse, natural and appealing to a global audience.

GPT-4o is a new technology for chatbots that can process audio, video, and text in real time. However, voice conversation is not yet available to all users. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that this option will be available to ChatGPT Plus subscribers in the near future.
