Amazon Games opens office in Bucharest: the first European division of the company will be headed by Ubisoft veteran who created Far Cry and The Division
Amazon Corporation's gaming division has announced an expansion.
Here's What We Know
Amazon Games is opening its first European division, based in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
Amazon Games Bucharest will be headed by Ubisoft veteran Cristian Pana, who has 20 years of experience in the games industry. He has worked on games such as Far Cry, The Division and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora.
Pana said he is excited to work with Amazon and believes that Romania has many talented developers with great potential.
Amazon Games Vice President Christoph Hartmann added that opening an office in Bucharest is one of the steps in Amazon Games' long-term development plan and that the company plans to release "great games".
As a reminder, Amazon Games' main success is the multiplayer role-playing game New World. Although it has failed to squeeze out such giants of the genre as World of Warcraft, Lineage 2 and Final Fantasy XIV, New World has a fairly wide audience and holds a stable popularity.
