The founder of ePlane said that the company plans to release the first prototype of the air taxi by the end of 2024, and launch full-scale commercialisation in India in 2027

At the Mint Digital Innovation Summit, aerospace marketplace ePlane announced its intention to create a prototype of the e200X air taxi by the end of the year and to release more prototypes next year. Certification and commercialisation are planned for 2026.

ePlane develops compact electric VTOL air taxis. Founder Satyanarayanan Chakravarthy noted the high consumer interest in air mobility solutions in India and plans to commercialise the product in cities by 2027.

Founded in 2019, ePlane is also involved in agri-tech, medical transport, air ambulance and air taxi. Emphasising the compact, multi-functional vehicles, Chakravarti mentioned the filing of intellectual property applications in 30 countries and DGCA approval for aircraft designs. He emphasised that ePlane is focused on reducing emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.
