A startup from California Saga Holographic presented an unusual exercise bike called HoloBike on the Kickstarter platform.

Here's What We Know

The bike trainer was developed by cyclist and former Google VR employee Samuel Matson. He based the device on a classic bike trainer and complemented it with a large display that fully immerses the cyclist in the atmosphere and gives the impression of riding on the street.

It is a 27-inch holographic 4K display with a 3D effect. The 3D picture does not require the use of special glasses or headsets. In addition, an infrared camera tracks the person's position and changes the image, further enhancing the immersive experience.

The system's first-person route visualisation is created by 3D volumetric scanning of real roads and trails in various locations around the world. At launch, 5-6 routes between 32 and 40 kilometres in length will be available, but the manufacturer promises to add more routes in the future.

For more realism, the trainer increases the electromagnetic resistance of the flywheel when climbing hills and decreases it on descents.

The HoloBike exercise bike can be ordered on Kickstarter for $2599, but the retail price will be higher at $2999.
