One of the creators of "Friday the 13th" thinks the studio is afraid to revive it

The creator of the cult horror series Friday the 13th, Sean Cunningham, has shared his thoughts on the reasons why the new film in the franchise may not see the light of day.

Here's What We Know

At the Texas Frightmare event, he pointed to the studio's fear of investing in a project with uncertain returns as a major obstacle. Cunningham did not name specific companies, but suggested that any studio that decided to revive the franchise would be wary of risking significant sums without the guarantee of a big return.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed viewer habits and this has also played a part in the project's delay. Despite the success of some big films, box office returns aren't always predictable, which is especially evident with recent releases that have moved quickly to streaming platforms.

Nevertheless, Cunningham expressed hope that the franchise will still get new life, though he warned that it won't happen for at least the next three years. Fans of "Friday the 13th" will have to wait patiently until their favourite antagonist Jason Voorhees returns to screens. Temporary consolation can be found in the video game franchise and Jason's character in the MultiVersus game.
