The Republic of Korea has completed the development of the L-SAM long-range air defence system

This week, the Republic of Korea completed the development of the L-SAM long-range air defence system. This was announced by the country's Ministry of National Defence.
In the latest test conducted by the Defence Acquisition Programme Office, the L-SAM met its technical development goals and was deemed suitable for combat use. Production will begin next year, with deliveries to the armed forces scheduled for the end of the decade.
L-SAM is part of the national missile and air defence architectures. In addition to the L-SAM, it includes the Cheongung II medium-range surface-to-air missile systems and the US MIM-104 Patriot systems with PAC-2/PAC-3 interceptors.
