Sweden has frozen the delivery of JAS-39 Gripen fighters to Ukraine so as not to interfere with the integration of the F-16 Fighting Falcon
Sweden will not transfer its aircraft to Ukraine for the time being. We are talking about fourth-generation JAS-39 Gripen fighters. Information about possible deliveries appeared last year.
Scandinavian Defence Minister Pal Jonson made a statement about the freezing of the transfer of JAS-39 Gripen. According to him, the reason for this decision is that Ukraine is now focused on receiving the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The parallel transfer of the Gripen could negatively affect the integration of the US aircraft.
Paul Johnson does not rule out that Sweden will still supply the Air Force with its fighters in the future. It was previously thought that the Gripen transfer could begin after the country joined NATO and received security guarantees.
As for the F-16, the first US aircraft could appear in Ukraine in a few months. The donors will be Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium.
