Samsung and LG have received permission to launch mass production of OLED displays for the iPhone 16
Apple has authorised LG and Samsung to start mass production of OLED panels for next-generation flagship smartphones. The two companies from the Republic of Korea are expected to be joined by China's BOE in the future.
LG will reportedly produce screens for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, while Samsung will produce screens for all four next-generation smartphones. As for BOE, it will be able to produce OLED displays for the iPhone 16 and Plus versions once it receives authorisation.
For now, Samsung has been authorised to supply screens for the standard model and the Pro variant. It is expected to be approved to supply OLED panels for the iPhone 16 Pro Max by the end of the month. LG will finalise this procedure by the end of the current quarter.
