The AFU has in service NASAMS 3rd generation with AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles, this is the newest version of the surface-to-air missile system
Ukrainian Armed Forces use NASAMS 3 surface-to-air missile systems.
Here's What We Know
A video of NASAMS 3rd generation was published by United24. The video shows how the air defence system intercepts an air target using the AIM-9X Sidewinder short-range missile, which is compatible only with NASAMS 3. Older versions of the SAM use AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.
Flashback
NASAMS 3 differs from the older versions of the SAM (NASAMS 1 and NASAMS 2) in a number of improvements and innovations. First of all, NASAMS 3 has an improved fire control system FDC (Fire Distribution Centre), which provides faster data processing speed and improved interaction with other air defence systems. An advanced AN/MPQ-64F1 Sentinel radar system has also been implemented, providing more accurate target detection and tracking.
NASAMS 3 supports integration with new missile types such as the AIM-9X Sidewinder and ESSM, expanding its combat capabilities. The system has improved mobility and a modular architecture, allowing it to be rapidly deployed in a variety of environments and tailored to specific missions.
