Google Play Store introduces new payment option "Ask someone else to pay"

The Google Play Store has been offering a variety of payment methods for many years, including credit and debit cards, net banking, Google Play Codes, gift cards, and in some regions such as India, UPI.

Here's What We Know

Google is now introducing a new feature called "Ask someone else to pay". This option allows users to invite another person to pay for a product or service instead of them.

How To Switch It On

The "Ask someone else to pay" option will appear as the last payment option on the payments page. When you select it, you'll see the Share Payment Link button. Clicking on it will give you a link that you can copy and send to another person. They will be able to follow this link and make the payment for you.

This feature is available for purchases of goods or services in apps that use Google Play Billing if the developers have integrated it with the sixth or later version of the Play Billing Library.

Currently, the innovation is available only in India. So far, Google has not disclosed whether it plans to expand to other regions.
