Apple TV+ could finally be coming to Android smartphones and tablets

It is reported that Apple TV+, Apple's streaming video service, may soon become available for Android users. This decision will open up new opportunities for Apple and allow the service to reach a much larger audience.

Here's What We Know

The information is based on a job advert published recently on Apple's website, which states that Apple is looking for a senior Android software engineer to work on the development team for the Apple TV app. According to the announcement, the engineer will lead the development of "exciting new features" and "help build the app that millions of people use to watch TV and sports."

Until recently, Apple TV+ was exclusive to Apple devices, limiting its presence in the Android ecosystem to just Android TV and the web version of the service. However, according to the latest information, Apple is paving the way for the launch of a dedicated app for Android smartphones and tablets.

Apple TV+ is known for its quality ad-free content and offers subscription at just one tier. Popular shows and films available on the service include Ted Lasso and Severance. Expansion on the Android platform could significantly increase the service's audience, as the number of Android users worldwide is estimated to be around 3.9 billion.

So far, Apple does not disclose details about the possible launch date or functionality of the future application. This innovation may become one of the main topics of the upcoming WWDC 2024 conference, which will be held in a week.
