B-52H Stratofortress nuclear bombers flew close to the Russian border
A few days ago, the US deployed B-52H Stratofortress nuclear bombers to the UK. This week, two strategic aircraft flew close to the Russian border.
Here's What We Know
The US has sent bombers to Europe from Minot Base, North Dakota. The two aircraft flew over the Baltic States on 28 May 2024 and approached the border with the Russian Federation.
The B-52H Stratofortress flew twice within a few dozen kilometres of Kaliningrad. The aircraft circled over Lithuania and then returned to the United Kingdom, flying in the airspace of Poland, Germany and the Netherlands.
During the mission, they were escorted by fighter jets. In particular, two Spanish F-18 Hornets, two Polish MiG-29s and five German Eurofighter Typhoons flew alongside the B-52H Stratofortress.
