Google Calendar to get a new feature: simplified adding of birthdays with a special chip

Google Calendar may receive a special birthday chip when you create a new event.

Here's What We Know

Google Calendar is a popular app that is often used to remind you of important dates, including birthdays. Since most Android phones come with Google Calendar pre-installed, users often add birthdays to get reminders every year.

APK parsing helps to predict features that may appear in the future based on the code. Although such predicted options may not make it to the public release, the latest update to the Google Calendar app, v2024.21.0-637471596, enabled a special "Birthday" chip.

Typically, a birthday in Google Calendar is an event that repeats over a full day. Previously, users added birthdays by creating an event, removing the duration, marking it as a full day, and setting it to repeat every year. Future changes will allow you to add birthdays with one click, automatically making all the necessary settings, including setting the year of birth.

Currently, this feature doesn't work in Google Calendar, so users will have to continue adding birthdays the old-fashioned way.

The new Birthday chip may be available soon.
