Russians seize latest Western THeMIS drone used by Ukrainian Armed Forces for transport

Russians seized the unmanned tracked platform THeMIS at the front, which Ukraine received from its allies in the amount of 15 units.

Here's What We Know

Ukraine has now received 15 ground drones of this type, becoming the first country to use them in a full-scale war. The delivery was carried out by the Estonian manufacturer of unmanned vehicles Milrem Robotics in cooperation with the German concern KMW. The vehicles donated by THeMIS were mainly used for evacuation of the wounded and mine clearance.

Unfortunately, the Russian occupiers managed to seize one system. It is likely that many tests will be conducted with it, which will allow Russia to get acquainted with the technical component, as the TheMIS does not have the same defects as their Uran-9 analogue.

By the way, TheMIS is used by 16 countries, including eight NATO members: France, Germany, Spain, Estonia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Norway.

Flashback

THeMIS is a 750 kg remotely piloted tracked drone that is propelled by a hybrid drive. The entire drive and control module is located on the sides of the vehicle. Between them is a platform that can be used to transport cargo or special equipment, or even weapons. The drone can move for up to 10 hours, including about 90 minutes in "quiet" mode, when it uses only the electric drive. The maximum speed is approximately 35 km/h, with a range that depends on terrain conditions, as the vehicle is driven by an operator.
