Google may replace Business Messaging with WhatsApp and SMS
Google is working on replacing the Business Messaging chat feature. Data suggests that WhatsApp and SMS are now the two potential options for business communication. The current messaging service will be shut down at the end of July.
Here's What We Know
Earlier this week, gg reported that Google was shutting down the Business Messaging chat feature, which is a key part of Google Maps and Search communications between businesses and customers.
As noted by X user and marketing specialist Francastrokw, European companies will soon be able to communicate with customers via WhatsApp and SMS. Some X users from India and the US have also noticed the new options.

After 15 July 2024, users will no longer be able to start new chats with companies via Google Business Messaging. However, existing conversations can continue until 31 July.
Companies that have been using the service have the option to download their chat and call history using Google Takeout until the feature expires.
