The Netherlands, together with Sweden and Denmark, will purchase CV90 combat vehicles for Ukraine

The Netherlands has joined the initiative of Denmark and Sweden to purchase CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine: the country has allocated €400 million for the project.

Here's What We Know

A significant number of vehicles, namely 180 out of 230 planned, will be built at Dutch facilities.

"European production capacity should grow for Ukraine, but also for ourselves. Our armed forces must be combat-ready, and there is a time pressure to do so," said the Dutch Defence Minister.

Flashback

The CV90 (Combat Vehicle 90) was developed by Hägglunds in the 1980s for the Swedish army. It entered service in 1993. The CV90 has a modular design that allows it to be adapted for various missions, including infantry transport, reconnaissance and anti-tank warfare. The vehicle is equipped with a 40mm Bofors automatic cannon and additional weapons, including machine guns and anti-tank guns. The CV90 is highly mobile thanks to its tracked platform and powerful engine. It also has modern armour and electronic systems. The CV90 is used in the armies of Sweden, Norway, Finland and other countries.
