Anker recalls its 321 Power Bank external batteries due to fire risk
Anker has announced a recall of its 321 Power Bank external battery (PowerCore 5K, model A1112), citing a risk of fire due to a manufacturing defect.
Here's What We Know
The device, which is a compact battery with two ports - USB-C and USB-A, was released after March 2023 and, according to the manufacturer, a "small number" of copies of this model are affected by the defect. However, Anker has decided to recall all devices of this model.
Users in possession of this battery are strongly advised to stop using it and fill out a special form on the company's website to receive a replacement - model 533 Power Bank. To expedite the replacement process, it is advisable to have proof of purchase on hand.
Anker is also recalling the importance of responsible e-waste disposal and providing links to recycling resources in various countries. This is not the first recall of Anker products. The company previously faced a similar situation when one of its batteries was found to be the possible cause of a house fire in Maryland, USA.
