Rheinmetall to launch Lynx BMP production in Ukraine, first combat vehicle to be produced this year
German engineering and arms concern Rheinmetall has agreed with Ukraine to localise production of the Lynx infantry fighting vehicle.

The information was shared by the Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshyn, German edition Handelsblatt reports. The first infantry fighting vehicle is planned to be produced in Ukraine this year. Information about the location of the plant and production volumes is not disclosed for security reasons. By the way, Rheinmetall recently launched an armoured vehicle repair shop in Ukraine.

Lynx is a modern infantry fighting vehicle developed by the German company Rheinmetall. It is designed to transport and protect infantry units, as well as to participate in combat operations. The Lynx is available in two main versions: KF31 and KF41. The KF31 accommodates up to 3 crew members and 6 paratroopers, while the KF41 accommodates up to 3 crew members and 8 paratroopers.
The vehicle is equipped with armour that provides protection against mines and ballistic threats and a modular design. The BMP's armament includes a 35mm automatic cannon and optional anti-tank missiles. The Lynx is characterised by high mobility, advanced electronics and control systems.
