Tencent has announced layoffs at the British company Sumo Group. The reduction will affect 15% of employees working in Canada, the UK, Poland, the Czech Republic, and India.

As the company writes : "While Sumo has been able to cope with many of the challenges faced by the gaming industry in recent times, we are not immune to them, and reforming operations across the business to better navigate the challenges ahead in the coming months is the path we must take to ensure the business is secure for the future."

In 2023, Sumo Group employed more than 1,100 people in 16 studios. Sumo Group was acquired by Tencent in 2021 for $1.27 billion.

We hope that all those laid off will find new jobs as soon as possible.
