Assassin's Creed Shadows won't force you to constantly switch between two characters: you can play as one of them for most of the game
A detailed presentation of Assassin's Creed Shadows gameplay took place at Ubisoft Forward. There are 2 protagonists in the game and the developers told more about this gameplay feature.
Here's What We Know
The developers wanted stealth and open battles, but did not want players to be able to switch between these things.
"The weapon you have, the armour you have, is what you have to deal with the current situation. You have to get out of that situation before you can change those things," says one of the authors of Shadows.
The shinobi and the samurai are two characters that fit well with this game formula, so that's how the two protagonists came about.
But how do you encourage players to switch between them? Since Yasuke and Naoe have different playstyles, players may prefer one over the other, rather than switching constantly.
And here Ubisoft tried not to limit players. Most of the time, you can play any character. The only exceptions are certain plot points.
Also, progress should encourage switching, because when you play one character for a while, it picks up things for another character to use.
When We Can Expect It
Assassin's Creed Shadows will be released on 15 November on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
