Qualcomm has announced the launch date for its new flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip
Qualcomm has officially announced its annual Snapdragon Summit event, which will be held in October in Hawaii. The main event of the summit will be the presentation of the company's latest flagship mobile processor - Snapdragon 8 Gen 4.
Here's What We Know
The new flagship chip from Qualcomm will be built on a 3nm process and equipped with custom Orion cores. Unlike the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which had an architecture of cores 1 + 3 + 4, the new processor will have a completely different layout - 2 + 6, which promises a significant increase in performance. According to leaks, the new chip will not contain energy efficient cores.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is reported to show impressive results in Geekbench performance tests - over 3,000 points in single-core and 10,000 points in multi-core tests. Qualcomm is also expected to unveil an updated GPU architecture, which is expected to improve performance and efficiency.
The first smartphone to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 processor is rumoured to be the Xiaomi 15, which will be announced shortly after the event. In addition, OnePlus and iQOO are also expected to unveil their new models powered by this chip.
Samsung, following its tradition, will release the Galaxy S25 series with a modified version of the processor created specifically for its devices. Now it remains to wait for Snapdragon Summit, where the company will shed more light on the upcoming chipset.
