The progression system in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be heavily inspired by Final Fantasy 10 and 12
The Dragon Age series began as a role-playing game, but later moved to action, and the upcoming Dragon Age: The Veilguard continues this trend. Despite this, BioWare does not simplify the mechanics of the game.
Here's What We Know
In an interview with RPG Site, game director Corinne Busche said that The Veilguard will have a "huge" skill tree that will change depending on the class. In addition, each class will have several specialisations that offer a variety of development paths.
Boucher noted that the progression system was heavily influenced by the Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy 10 and Final Fantasy 12. The customisation options and skill organisation in The Veilguard are based on these inspirations and aim to be accessible through specialisations placed at the edges of the grid.
Each class' skill tree is divided into three categories: defence, weapons, and abilities. For example, a Warrior can focus on defence or abilities to achieve a specialisation such as Reaper. Party members will have unique but simpler skill trees focused on improving their core abilities, each with five options. This approach avoids overloading players while adding strategic depth.
The game has a 50-level limit and allows players to freely manage their skill trees, which emphasises the player-friendly design.
When We Can Expect It
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is scheduled for release this autumn.
Where To Play
