OpenAI revenue grew nearly 250% year-over-year to $3.4bn

On a year-over-year basis, OpenAI's revenue increased by about $2.4 billion, The Information reports.

Despite being a major player in the generative artificial intelligence systems segment, there isn't much information about OpenAI's financial health. According to The Information, the startup's year-to-date revenue reached $3.4bn

The figure may not reflect the real picture of annual revenue. This is due to the fact that it is calculated by multiplying the revenue received during the month by 12.

Nevertheless, it is the pace that matters in this situation. Just a year ago, the company's attributable revenue was $1 billion, and by the end of the year it had grown to $1.6 billion. So it has grown about 3.5 times in one year, and more than doubled from the end of 2023.

OpenAI earns $3.2bn from providing services directly. The remaining $200 million the startup receives from its partnership with Microsoft Azure. The company's market capitalisation is estimated at $86bn.
