Insider: Samsung Galaxy S25 will run only on Snapdragon chips
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm is likely to be the sole SoC supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S25 due to the performance of the 3nm manufacturing process that will be used for the Exynos 2500 chip.
Here's What We Know
The analyst explains that this manufacturing process has lower performance than expected. This may lead to Samsung's decision to use only Snapdragon chips in the Galaxy S25.
Qualcomm supplied about 40% of the chipsets for the Galaxy S24 series. Only the Galaxy S24 Ultra is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip in all markets. The Exynos 2400 powers the base Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models everywhere except the US, Canada, China and Japan.
Qualcomm will likely be the sole SoC supplier for the Samsung Galaxy S25 (vs. 40% for the S24), as the Exynos 2500 may not ship due to Samsung's lower-than-expected 3nm yield.

In addition to the significant increase in supply share, Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will see a price...
In nearly 15 years of producing Android phones, the only time Samsung has abandoned Exynos chips for its flagship Galaxy S line was in 2023. Many were disappointed when it was confirmed that Exynos would return with the Galaxy S24 series. The Exynos 2400 turned out to be a great chip, even if it didn't match the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 on all levels.
There are rumours that the Exynos 2500 could match or even surpass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in terms of energy efficiency.
Normally, Samsung's abandonment of Exynos for flagship models would be welcome news to many. In this situation, it may not be so beneficial due to the possible high costs of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which could make the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra more expensive.
