OnePlus promises new smartphone batteries that retain at least 80 per cent capacity after 4 years of use

The other day OnePlus announced a new Glacier Battery, developed in collaboration with CATL, the largest battery manufacturer in the electric car industry. Now the company has revealed some details about its development.

Here's What We Know

So, the new type of Glacier Battery is more efficient, longer lasting and extremely energy efficient compared to existing solutions. OnePlus claims that the battery retains at least 80% of its original capacity after 4 years of active use. For comparison, the industry average right now is 800 charge cycles.

The new battery will have an energy density of 763Wh/L, while weighing only 14 grams.

The first to receive the Glacier Battery will be the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro smartphone, which will debut next week. The battery has a capacity of 6100 mAh and thanks to 100W fast charging, it charges from 1 per cent to 100 per cent in just 36 minutes.
