TikTok at the centre of a scandal: a bug in the avatar creation tool allowed the use of Hitler's quotes
TikTok is at the centre of a scandal due to a bug in their new digital avatar creation tool.
Here's What We Know
Before the bug was fixed, the tool, which is designed to create advertising content, allowed users to put any text into the mouths of paid actors, including phrases related to Hitler and other shocking statements.
Any words we put in created a video with a peppy "Stock AI" Avatar reciting them. That included:

CNN first noticed this mistake and used it to create a video with quotes from Hitler and calls for dangerous actions. This caused serious outrage and concern among users and the public. After this discovery, TikTok stopped working with this version of the tool.
Following this incident, TikTok has removed the link to this version of the tool and continues to implement measures for safety and compliance with their platform rules.
