Huawei will stop supporting Android apps in HarmonyOS NEXT with AI by the end of 2024
Following the ban on Android in 2020, Huawei this week announced plans to switch to a new HarmonyOS NEXT platform that will completely stop supporting Android apps by the end of this year.
Here's What We Know
HarmonyOS NEXT, announced by the company last year, is a completely independent architecture that promises to improve performance and reduce power consumption. It includes Harmony Intelligence artificial intelligence technology.
Although the platform is still under development and is only available to a limited number of beta testers in China, the official release is scheduled for Q4 2024.
The company has been providing reports on its plans for the future, but many open questions remain as to how this strategy will affect users and app developers.
