Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition gets high marks from critics, but little to no interest from the public

Yesterday saw the release of Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition, a remaster of Ubisoft's acclaimed 2003 action-adventure game.

Perhaps, the public didn't have a big request for such a re-release, so it was practically not advertised, and the result was corresponding.

Here's What We Know

Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition has attracted almost no attention from players. According to SteamDB service, the peak online for the first day was 589 people. Probably, on other platforms the situation is not much better.

Today, the media began to publish their reviews of the updated game and most journalists state that Ubisoft had a very successful remaster. Experts believe that the developers have worthily rejuvenated the outdated game, significantly improved graphics and competently adapted it to modern platforms. However, many note that since the developers have not changed the gameplay mechanics of Beyond Good & Evil, some of them feel outdated and may scare away the modern audience with their archaic nature.

Journalists noted that the developers should have made more changes, but what they got deserves attention.

As a result, Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition received 82 points on Metacritic in the PS5 version, and on OpenCritic the game has 84 points with 88% of recommendations.

In Steam, the adventurer has 69% positive reviews so far.

Recall, the creation of the anniversary edition were specialists from Virtuos Games with the assistance of Ubisoft Montpellier. They added to Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition support for resolution up to 4K, 60 FPS, increased texture quality, refined controls, modernised sound effects, and also specially added the option of auto- and cross-platform saves.
