The creator of Elden Ring is interested in a film adaptation of the game - the key is to find the right partner

Elden Ring is undoubtedly one of the most outstanding games not only of recent times, but also in the history of the industry.

It has received the highest ratings and a record number of awards, its sales have exceeded 25 million copies, Elden Ring is a constant topic of discussion and the recently released Shadow of the Erdtree add-on only added to the game's score.

Taking into account the trend of video game adaptations, it's for sure that many film companies are interested in adapting Elden Ring and, as it turns out, that's what the creator of the game wants too.

Here's What We Know

In an interview with The Guardian, FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed that he sees a lot of potential in a film adaptation of Elden Ring. However, he said that he doesn't have the necessary skills to produce such a project, so the realisation of such an idea is only possible if there is a serious partner.

I don't see a problem in the appearance of another interpretation or adaptation of Elden Ring, for example - a film. But I don't think that I or FromSoftware have enough knowledge and capabilities to act as producers of a project in such a format. So a strong partner will be needed here.

There will have to be trust and understanding that we have common goals, but the interest [in adaptation] itself is really there.

Of course, such a multifaceted and distinctive game with a competent approach to the script will look great in the format of a film or series, and maybe even an anime. Moreover, its plot and backstory was created by the famous writer George R. R. Martin, and in his work there is a huge space for the development of the story.

There is no doubt that someone will soon be found to take on the film adaptation of Elden Ring.
