New macOS Sequoia makes it easier to install apps on your Mac
The new version of macOS, known as Sequoia, includes significant changes to the memory requirements for downloading apps from the Mac App Store.
Here's What We Know
Until now, to download an app from the App Store, a Mac needed twice the free space as the app size. For example, to install a 1GB app, you needed at least 2GB of free space.
With the macOS Sequoia update, this requirement will be changed. Now, to download an app, it's enough to have free space equal to the size of the app plus a small buffer. This means that users will be able to install large apps and games more easily without needing a lot of free disk space.
macOS Sequoia will be available for general use this autumn. A developer preview is now available, and a public beta will be released next month.
