The Polish Defence Procurement Agency has announced that Poland has received the last batch of 47 M1A1 Abrams tanks from the United States.

Here's What We Know

The Polish Armed Forces have received a total of 116 used M1A1 main battle tanks. It ordered them in January 2023 from the United States, and the first batch of 14 units arrived in the Polish army six months later.

However, the Polish Armed Forces are still waiting for additional support vehicles. Under the contract, Poland has ordered 12 M88A2 Hercules vehicles, eight M1074 JAB tactical bridges, six M577 command vehicles and 26 HMMWVs. The contract also includes 120mm tank ammunition and training services.

It is worth noting that in April 2022, Poland signed another contract with the United States for 250 M1A2 SEPv3 Abrams main battle tanks worth almost $5 billion. The tanks are scheduled to be delivered to Poland in 2025-2026.
